The FTC has become increasingly interested in the competition in the healthcare sector. The FTC held a workshop on March 20 and 21, 2014 to more closely examine fives areas related to healthcare competition that are of interest to the Commission. As previously described by the FTC, these issues included:
1) Professional regulation of health care providers - The FTC has long been interested in the professional regulation of health care providers. The workshop will bring together experts to discuss developments relating to accreditation, credentialing, licensure, and scope of practice, and the ways in which these regulatory tools may affect competition and consumers.The workshop was recorded.
